Indiana Tech to offer new fashion degree

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech has developed a bachelor’s degree in fashion marketing and management and will launch the program in January 2012.
Prospective students and other interested community members are invited to an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. January 17 to learn more about the program. The event will include a presentation by guest speaker Caitlin Lanseer, product development process assistant at Vera Bradley.
The fashion marketing and management degree will allow students to experience the creative study of fabrics and fashion in a rigorous business curriculum. In addition to core business courses, the program includes fashion-related courses such as:
• Fashion Innovation and Marketing
• Textiles and Apparel Evaluation
• Visual Merchandising and Promotions
• Fashion Event Planning
• Product Development
• Trend Forecasting
The program also will include a fashion marketing and management internship, study trips to Chicago and New York City, and an annual trip to the Fashion Group International Career Day at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. These activities will provide exposure to traditional and emerging career paths within the field as well as opportunities for networking with fashion industry contacts.
Students who graduate with the bachelor’s degree in fashion marketing and management will be prepared for careers in fashion retail management, visual merchandising, product development, fashion event planning, retail buying, and related fields.
